Making a Difference: Paige from Mantra South OC

Making a Difference: Paige from Mantra South OC Leads an Inspiring Burn for Breast Cancer Event

Mantra’s Burn for Breast Cancer event was created to bring our community together in the fight against breast cancer by raising funds to provide mammograms for women who might not otherwise have access. Mammograms are a crucial tool in early detection, offering the best chance for successful treatment and saving lives. This year, Paige, owner of our Mantra South OC studio, led an inspiring effort – raising over $3,000! Her passion and our members’ generosity made this achievement possible, demonstrating the incredible impact we can make together for this vital cause.

Meet Paige from Mantra South OC

Paige Johnson has been with Mantra since 2018. Starting as a client, she fell in love with the workout in her very first class. Her dedication grew as she began teaching, inspired by the clients’ dedication to their wellness journey. Eventually, Paige’s passion for teaching and her commitment to the clients’ well-being led her to take on an even bigger role, becoming an owner in 2020.

Coast-to-Coast Connection: How Mantra California and Florida Studios Unite to Inspire the World

This year was especially challenging, Mantra’s Florida studios were unable to participate in the annual Burn for Breast Cancer Charity event due to the devastation from two back-to-back historic hurricanes. However, Paige’s commitment to carrying the event forward in California was truly inspiring to the entire Mantra community.

To learn more, Sarah, Manager of Mantra Lakewood Ranch, sat down with Paige to discuss the inspiration, challenges, and triumphs of the Burn for Breast Cancer event. Paige has become a mentor over time, sharing her dedication to fitness, health, and community impact. Here’s a glimpse of their insightful conversation.

What inspires you about Mantra’s Burn for Breast Cancer event?

“I lost my best friend to breast cancer 17 years ago. I helped raise her two children thoughout her cancer treatment. And her oldest daughter has carried on raising money for breast cancer research in honor of her mom. So for me, it’s a very personal connection to my friend Laurie, to continue the fight to eliminating breast cancer.”

Can you tell us about your community’s response? How did it feel to see everyone come together for this cause?

“It was very inspiring! We have lots of clients that have been impacted by the long-lasting effects of breast cancer on their families. So the Mantra community really steps up to raise money for this cause.
One of our clients Deb is a two-time breast cancer survivor. She comes to the studio 3 times a week and works her butt off! Her workouts at Mantra help her feel stronger and it’s something that she looks forward to every week. It’s so inspiring because you can see how the benefits of our workout and a positive attitude can really physically and mentally change you for the better.”

Why do you feel it’s important for Mantra Fitness to support health causes like this?

“I think we are all impacted by this terrible disease in some way, shape or form, whether it’s individually, or through family members and friends. Its always important to help give back to the community that helps build you up.

How do you hope this event will impact women in need of mammograms?

“By raising money for mammograms it will provide women in need with early detection – which is key in a strong fight.”

Any advice for others who want to support women’s health initiatives?

“Find an organization that is important to you. Make sure to research and be sure the money you are raising is going directly to supporting the cause.”

Why Mammograms Matter

Importance of Early Detection
Mammograms can detect cancer early when it’s most treatable.

Statistics
Women aged 40 and above should get regular screenings, as studies show early detection reduces the mortality rate by up to 30%.

Cost Barrier
Many women avoid screenings due to high costs, making community support crucial.

Paige’s dedication to supporting breast cancer awareness and providing mammograms for those in need is a powerful reminder of how each of us can make a difference. If you’re inspired by her story, there are several ways to get involved. Look for local organizations that support women’s health initiatives, and consider donating directly to help fund mammograms for underserved women.
